Ok, I have Windows XP Pro on a cd, build 2600 (I believe 2600 is the final build). Anyway, I am currently running Windows 98 SE. Can I format my harddisk, then set my CDROM drive as my bootup drive, and install Windows XP by having the disk in the CDROM drive at startup? Also, when I format my harddisk I plan to just use the format command in DOS. Will there be any problems with FAT32 and NTFS? I want my drive to be in NTFS when I format it, how would I do that? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif Thanks a lot guys. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

Should work the way you described, and I believe most installation disks give you the option to format the drive you are going to install the OS on...so use that if available.

XP pro is basicly an eye-candy version of W2000, you can fdisk/format your drive with a standard W98 boot disk if you like, then set your CDROM to bootable, insert the XP pro disc, and choose install-then go with NTFS.
Pretty much every thing you install after that, if they don't have specific XP drivers, use the W2000 ones-they've worked fine for me.
