View Full Version : internet gets slower & slower

I'm running W2K and have upgraded to the most recent IE browser, have even loaded a non-microsoft browser to see if that helps, but my problem persists: after extended action on internet (especially strong java sites) my supposedly fast cable access gets so slow that I could be outrun by a dialup connection. I clear the temp internet files, that helps but not much. About all I can do is reboot, and sometimes that doesn't even help. Is there some setting that I can change to get the speed outa my cable connection?? I also occasionally get a blue screen stating "memory dump to disk" and the system then reboots itself. What the heck is going on there? Is that related?
Thanks!

Sounds like some of your hardware might be overheating. What happens if you shut down for about a half hour or so? Is the speed back up to normal?

Hi gardeness,
If you shutdown and re-start without emptying your temp. folders does your normal speed resume? This would eliminate a temp. folder problem.
Does the slowdown happen at the same time of the day?
Here's a link to help you figure out the Memory Dump (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q192/4/63.ASP) problem. It may be related.
