Hi guys,
Here is a problem I would like your help about.
Sometimes when I do a hard reboot after a system hang (which is not so common but has happened thrice since I assembled my PC), the system directly throws the BIOS setup screen telling me that 'The last time the system hung due to a improper CPU frequency setting...Now it is running at safe frequency...Please set the appropriate frequency..". I have a PIII 1gig/133 FSB Processort on a Asus CUSL2-BP ASUS MB. I had set CPU internal frequency to 1000 MHZ. I guess I did the correct thing. But, upon getting the first such message, I tried changing the FSB: SDRAM:PCI Freq Ratio to 133:133:133, while the Internal Freq of CPU is set as Manual. I understand that I either set the ratio or the internal freq. of the CPU. But, even after 3 such changes, I still get the error message. For the timebeing, I have left it like that, but I hope it does not cause any damage to the CPU. But, I would like to know if I can correct it.
It is useless trying to get any help from ASUS. I have tried previously and swore to myself never to try again http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
BTW, I have jumper free setting option on my MB. So, I did all the settings thru the BIOS. Also, I don't notice too much variation in the CPU temperature. Anyone faced this problem before?

First off, what type of RAM are you using? 100 or 133? If there is any mismatch, you will need to set your FSB on the processor to match the lowest speed RAM that you are using. I ran into this same problem trying to set my Athlon 1.2ghz with at 133 when using a PC100 and PC133 chip. As soon as I set it to 100mhz, everything worked fine and I stopped getting those annoying system hangs.
