Mini-Me

I've said it before on other threads on this site(and this is the best PC site on the web), modern CD-ROM drives suck.
This is due to their speed.
I have several discs that will not log-on at the 52x and above speeds that modern drives try to spin-up to.
Tonight, I had to f-ing reboot f-ing Windows more then f-ing 10 times, cos every time I tried to read files from the disc, Windows would freeze with BSOD or total freeze-up - not even the mouse pointer will move.
Now, by contrast, I have a Mitsumi 4x writer in an older P100 machine, and if I take the disc to this machine, it reads it flawlessly...
Explain that, all you fans of fast CD-writer spindle speed...
I apologise to anyone reading this who may be upset by my comments, but this is an ongoing problem, and is F-ING ME OFF!!!!
This was never such an issue with slower CD-rom/writer drives...
Also, why is it, that a drive(any speed) that fails to read a file, or log-on to the filesystem of any one disc, freezes the PC so much so, that you have to force a re-boot?
This is f-ing unbelievable...
No CD reading problem should lock the PC such that you cannot even move the mouse pointer...
This happens on more then this one PC - I see this on pretty much every PC, and it totally sucks - no failed attempt to access a CD should cause the PC to lock up in such a way, and, frankly, it F--KS ME OFF that it should do it at all.
The disc is not at fault, otherwise, the older 4x writer in the P100 should not be able to read it also...
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...... ...............
Forgive me - going for some sedative, but with these drive speeds and Windows, can you REALLY blame me???? (rhetorical)
