Help!
I am getting errors trying to Play DVD movies on my PC.
It used to play movies on my PC before without any problems.
I had a Nvidia GeForce4 MX440 64MB graphic card.
I got a Digital LCD flat panel monitor and VGA card - Gainward GeForce FX5200 128 MB card with DVI and TV-Out.
Now, when I play my DVD movies on my PC I get error
"Macrovision distribution failed" and "Computer is not confiugred properly for Macrovision".
I tried WinDVD / Sonic Cine PLayer / Power DVD to play the movies.

I have NOT connected my TV out on the card.I am just using one digital LCD flat panel monitor connected to the DVI out of the graphics card.
I tried TvTool. But, it did not help (maybe it works only for TV-out).

PC details:
CPU: P4 2.4GHz on Asus P4P800
RAM: 512 MB DDR
OS : Windows 2000 SP4.
VGA: Gainward FX PowerPack Pro/660 TV/DVI 128MB (Nvidia GeForce FX5200)
DVD: Pioneer DVR A05

Is there any thing I am missing here?

Hello shankarum,

Welcome tohttp://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!

There's apparently a lot of this going around:

You might want to try a Google search...I just dropped in the first error message you mentioned and:

Welcome to the wonderful world of copy-protection and DRM......

Basically, because you are using a device that may be used (heaven forbid) to make a copy of a DVD, there are all sorts of restrictions placed in the software so you can't do that, unfortunately they often times prevent you from using said item in a recognised "legal" manner.....

As hinted in that link that Whyzman posted, you may want to try dropping back to an earlier version of the video drivers (and you may have ended up with the same probelm with your old card had you updated them to the most recent drivers.... :()

Hi Whyzman,

Thanks for the response.
I did google for this error and got only a couple of solutions:

1) update Firmware / VGA BIOS ?!?!?
2) Go back to a previous version of the driver.

I did not get any help on (1) and also it could kill my video card.
I went ahead and tried 2.
Uninstalled the current driver version and tried to install an older version 40.72 from
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html

It was missing some files and I ignored it (the files seem to be for nview, the multi display tool manager from nvidia).
Big mistake, when I restarted my PC, I got the blues -
I mean the blue screen with errors...
So, I am now back to where I started.

any helpful hints will be appreciated.
