While playing an online game (soldier of fortune) I get a beep coming from the tower. There isnt any noticeable problem when it does, but is it some kind of warning? Maybe heat? Thanks for any help

Mite be your firewall letting you know you have been attacked, i know BlackIce used a beep on a high risk attack, im unsure wether Nortons Firewall uses that beep.

You can probably check in Control Panel in Sounds to see what that beep is assigned to. It may simply be a general warning beep. I get them all the time on Win2K at work on different computers for no clear reason....

It is not a beep from the speakers, but the same beep heard during POST... Someone told me that it may be the CPU getting warm/hot??? sound right"?

Could be... you could install and run MBM5 (http://mbm.livewiredev.com/) to check temps, but keep in mind that it isn't always accurate and takes some care to configure properly. You can also check temps in BIOS, but if it is overheating it is probably because of the intense use during game play and that might not show up in BIOS. You could also open the case and run a small desk fan on the CPU and video card while you play the game, if no problem it is probably a heat problem....
