This is my first time building a system. I am building a AMD duron 850 Mhz with new MSI K7T Turbo-R Limited Edition Mobo.
After putting everything together, it powered up for the first time. However, there were beeps and no display. After shutting down, it will not power up again.
I changed a new power supply but it still did not power up. However, I did notice that when I switch on the power, the case fan would spin for a short while and stop. At first the CPU fan also spinned for a while but not anymore.
I really have no idea what is wrong. Could it be the mobo fused? or the processor? Really have no idea. Please help http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

If the CPU fan was spinning and it isn't any longer DO NOT{/b] power up again until you have figured out why it stopped (if you had it one for more than ten seconds then it may already be too late)!

The first thing is to check for is shorts, try this by removining the motherboard from the case and putting it on a nonconductive surface (like a piece of cardboard), making sure that all the jumpers are properly set (refer back to the manual for the propersttings) and then power on....be prepared to kill power quickly if the fan doesn't spin up! If the fan is a no go then, possible try another fan, followed by try the CPU in another board (not always possible). If it works out of the case carefully re-install it using the standoffs and insulated washers and try again...

Hi,
I tried taking out the Mobo and rechecking the jumpers, everything is okay. Now Everytime I plug in the plug and on it, the processor fan and case fan would spin abit and stop. When I play around with the jumpers, I sometime do not get it to work. But with all the jumpers the way it should be, it spins a little but does not power up still.

Okay, either the power supply is not working properly or the motherboard has had it...if you can try another power supply.
