View Full Version : Pc Won't Detect My Dvd-rw And Dvd-r

Hello i was wondering if any one can help me,i've just reinstalled windows prof xp my system worked fine and still is but it won't detect the two drive's pioneer dvd-rw dvr104 and a hl-dt-st dvdrom drive it shows a caustion mark in yellow not the question mark i;ve checked all the cable's ie sound ide check that it's running on the master ect thats all fine...i uninstalled the drivers re-installed them re-booted ect nothing this way works i ran a few system checks and came across the following diagnostic problems _-CODE 19 configuartion information incomplete or damaged .....i dug a bit deeper and found out that it's a V+D loader failure i've tryed to update the drivers put there the same as what i have....can you help the drivers are for xp should i try to get some 2000 drivers or something and i can't seem to find any explaination for what a v+d loader failure is

remove the drives in device manager and reboot. windows will re detect, see if that works.

done that mate got that black cross through the drives re-booted and windows found the new drive's but no cigar it detect's them but they won't show in my computer and they won't work....

Did you try a 'Repair Install'?

to be honest i'm very new to this game i don't know how to repair install,, sounds promiseing mind please could you tell me how to do it thanks pedro

@pedroace, You might want to check this out before you try a repair install.

This seems to be a well documented problem one encounters when installing XP. It seems to be software related. The problem is that even if you uninstall the drive in the Windows Device Manager, the old driver is still loaded automatically when you reboot. You've most likely installed the wrong driver or your driver has gotten corrupted. In either case, you need to get rid of the old driver. If you are unfamiliar with the Registry,read article 256986.
The good news is,If you dont want to edit the registry manually, a readymade fix is available at DougKnox (http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_cd_dvd_fix.htm)

done that m8 i'm going to have to reinstall xp i've got a newer version so hopefully that will work..tried both methods to no avail do you no if this will resolve the problem
