I`ve recently power on again my old computer (Pentium MMX 133Mhz, 32 MB RAM 66) after about two months of inactivity.
The system boot up, detects the memmory and the hard drive, but after show the first boot screen of WIN 98 SE, the PC stop booting, the screen turns black and the message "Boot interrupted. error on Disp. vkd" (that`s a translation of the message that the spanish version shows me, may be different in real english).
The last time i`d turn it on, it works fine.
I`ve made some changes from that time:
.the monitor is different (much more older, NEC SVGA)
.I`ve replaced the modem (now i have a 3com OEM PCI modem)
What could be wrong?

Is the Disp.vkd an abbreviation or is that the whole word?

Can you boot into Safe Mode...whne booting try tapping the <f5> to boot directly into it or <f8> to bring up a menu and choose safe mode.

VKD...is the virtual keyboard driver...you might want to check and see if you have a key sticking on your keyboard (been there done that).

This particular error, if indeed keyboard related, cost me hours on the phone, in the queue with tech-support from the company I purchased the kids computer from 3 years ago. No one knew what vkd was! Sure hope this helps!
