If I wanted to upgrade to a new Motherboard....but use the same hard drive from my old motherboard.....would the Hard Drive get accustomed to the new Motherboard or would it choke and die? I am using XP.....

Windows would probably barf at the new hardware.
If you boot from the WinXP CD, and run a "repair" install, it will redetect the hardware, and install the necessary files.
This will gove you a working installation, without losing all the settings& programs.
At least, that's what I understand can be done, and I hope it's right, 'cos this m/b & PSU are getting dumped in a month or two!
You can move the Hard drive to another system.
Just make sure you have the Bios set to Auto detect
It ( Windows) will auto detect the changes and set up for the new hard ware
It may/will also require you to re-register XP
I appreciate the info as always!

With a different motherboard you will most likely have to run a repair installation to get it to boot and you will definitely have to reactivate XP.
Also it would Help if you remove ANY video drivers that will not be used in the new system Before you make the swap..
And then, if successful, remove the hardware that is not physcally installed on the new setup.
