If anyone could remember, I'm the one who is asking the DVD-ROM problem. Believe it or not, I still face the same problem. See what steps I had taken:

1. I've tried enabling DMA mode in the IDE controller properties, but there is no 'Advance' tab in the properties menu. Don't know what can I do bout it.

2. I've uninstall Primary IDE driver under Safe Mode. After auto reinstalling by Windows, its still the same.

3. After I'd been convinced that it got something to do with the drive, I brought i tback to the shop. What drives me mad, is the drive plays normal. Now, its sure that its my PC prob.

4. After bringing back from the shop, I disabled UDMA in BIOS. It successfully installed LOTR: Fellowship OF The Ring, which in a dvd.

5. After that, the same thing return:
Hangs up after first or second minute opening movie/data DVD.

Hope someone can help.

Have you checked your system temperatures after the DVD player hangs?

Also, repost your system specs.

A computer that freezes almost always has a hardware problem.

How do I check my temp?

P4 2.4, 256 DDR RAM, GeForce4 MX440 (64MB), Asus DVD E616P, Asus 52X, Lite-On 401248 CDRW, Intel MBoard.

Btw, it hangs only when the disc in drive, when I ejected it, the system wud b ok again.
