About 5 months ago I downloaded Aol Instant Messenger. There hadnt been any problems with it until i downloaded a program from a buddy icon site. The program is called IconForge. It enables you to edit buddy icons. I
immediately deleted the program cause it was pretty boring and slow. after i deleted it, the programs began occuring. Every time i try to access a file(i.e. a wordpad document) AOL Instant Messenger is opened. I dont know how to fix this or why it is happening but it is really aggravating and i need to figure it out. so if you can provide assistance i would appreciate it.

http://www.microsoft.com/NTWorkstation/downloads/powertoys/networking/nttweakui.asp try this, download tweak UI and then once you hav eit installed go to control panel, the repair, then on the drop down menu repair file associations. Also wouldn' be a bad Idea to go to start and then search and do a search for the buddy Icon and delete all traces of it.
