Start by removing the Video card and reseating ..

Also you should remove any other cards not needed to boot the system

Then if it works with just the video card installed.
reinstall 1 card at a time till you find the one causing the error

You know, I think we got that you are "scared"... However, you need to take this in a step by step manner and help us to help you if you are serious about having a problem and wanting help with it.

We need to know as much as possible about your system, what version of Windoze you have installed and what troubleshooting you have already done. We also need to know if you have recently installed any software/hardware and if you use security software. I am guessing that your level of experience is fairly low if you don't know how to reseated the video card, is this true???

Before you try reseating or doing much else, is this computer still under warranty. If it is, seek service under the warranty or you risk voiding it.

If it isn't under warranty, you open the box, find the video card (it will have the monitor plugged into it), unplug the monitor, unscrew the screw where the video card connects to the case, release the lever in the back if there is one and pull the card. Put it back in carefully and make sure it is fully seated, usually you will hear two clicks if it is... Let us know what you find out...

Astonishing.

No signal usually means your monitor is not getting a signal from your video. (hence the message.) The first thing you should check is your video cable. I suspect it's either disconnected, or has a bent pin or two. Careful (or even casual) inspection will reveal either.

The problem could also be the monitor itself. It's easy enough to try another one if you've got it. If not, a local shop should be able to do this for you.

Until both of these things are tried, I see utterly no reason to remove screws yet. Come on gang, let's check the simple stuff first.

Let's also not forget that there may not be a video card to re-seat. Which OS is used is irrelevant since the hard drive has barely even begun to spin and the os and software hasn't begun to load.

I had this problem the other week with a customer computer, long beep upon startup and no video output to the monitor. A longgggg beep usually indicates a memory error. The customers computer only had one dimm so i took it out and reseated it in the other slot. Everything worked fin after that. The "no signal" or whatever you are seeing could just be the monitor saying it's not getting a signal as opposted to and error message the actual system is putting out. What i mean is that since it has a memory error it won't bother to put out any video untill that memory is fixed.

Open your system up and find the ram, if you only have one stick more it to another slot and firmly secure it, if you have two take them both out and reseat them firmly and get back to us.

XD

i have another problem, on my p3. so ill just post here i guess

Porn randomly pops up when i surf the Net (im not intentionally looking for porn) XP

yawningdog,

In one of scared's posts that are scattered over 2 or 3 threads he said that he had already checked connections.

scared,

You probably have a hijacker on your PIII. Without any of the details about your setup, it is hard to say what step to take next. As I asked earlier, do you run any security software, this time on the PIII??? If you don't, you probably have worse than a hijacker. If you do, you need to run Spybot and/or AdAware to see what is infesting your system and clean it up. If you still have the problem, you will probably need to run HijackThis and copy/paste the log here, but give us more info before taking that step...

BTW, even if you don't mind the porn, it is a clue that your PC is under attack and that worse things may happen...

Sounds as if someone has been surfing to porn sites. Your history and temporary internet files can confirm or deny this.
