Hello peeps, I'm a student studying Computing... i'm also confused. You see, i'm currently having problems doing a report for Computer Architecture, and need some help to answer a few questions on Static RAM and Dynamic RAM, here goes:

1) Memory Access times.. which one's faster - and why?
2) Cost (DRAM compared to SRAM)
3) Density (DRAM vs SRAM.. which one has more space, also, which one has the Higher Bit Density.

Please help, or my alter-ego "The Lonely Memory-Cell" will feel very, very lonely indeed.

I won’t give you specific answers, but I will try to give you some things to look for as you do your research.

In addition to your questions, here are some more to help guide your research:

What types of integrated components are used for each (transistors, capacitors, diodes, etc.)?
Which requires more power to operate?
Which is used for cache, and which for system RAM?
Which technology is older?

Now that I have given you exactly what you didn’t want (more questions), I’m sure you will be able to find most of the answers where ski recommended you go. If you can’t find some answers we’ll try to help as much as possible without specifically giving away answers.
