I have installed a sound card AOPen AW300 in my computer (Celeron 533 with 256 meg of ram and Win 98SE). The sound is very , very scratchy. I thought it was the speakers, but no, as I changed the speakers and got the same problem.
I re installed the card and the same thing. At a very rare occassion,the sound will appear normal. Can someone help me? Thanks

When you installed the new card was it to replace an existing one or to replace onboard sound?

Boot into safe mode and check (in device manager) if there are any other drivers for other sound cards or duplicates of the current one. If so remove all of them and let windows reinstall it...
