Hi,
All of a sudden I have this message: This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
When I click details I get: WINWORD caused a General Protection Fault in module HPFWIN17.DLL @ 0016:00008632
I get this with any program I try to run, Publisher, wordpad, word, excel, etc. (WINWORD is different with each program, but the rest of the message is the same).
Could really use some help as all I know is how to turn this thing on.
Thanks,
Bob

Ahhh..yes, should have told you more. It happened when I tried to print to my lil' old HP680C. I have Office 2000 and was in Publisher with a graphics heavy page. I gave the print command and got frozen stiff...first time for that. I shut down using cont-alt-del and when I restarted I could no longer use most of my programs. For instance, I open Word, type one letter and the evil message comes up.
Sounds like it is time to grab the latest drivers and reinstall the printer...making sure that youhave removed the old drivers per HP's instructions...I'd say print the instruction page, but.... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I used to get a very similar problem when running Office aplications, and then one day I`ve noticed that an older version of Office was installed too and aparently causing conflicts.
Look for other versions and uninstall.
