Hi,
I'm trying to check my BIOS to make sure that it still sees my CD Rom drive: it won't respond when there's a disk in it.
How do I check it, and how will I know if my CD-Rom drive is or isn't there?
Thanks

sounds a lot like a school quize question #1.Bios if you do not know what you are doing stay out of Bios.#2. some system specs would help
#3.what do you have loading at startup, such as direct-cd ? there might be a simpiler solution to the problem other than bios.post back.

Would also help: Was working is not now...Came with computer, or aftermarket?
In the meantime...enter SAFEMODE>Right click MY COMPUTER slide down to PROPERTIES left click and go into DEVICE MANAGER>CD-ROM click the (+) and see if there are any "ghost" devices...I would suggest removing all by clicking on the REMOVE button. Reboot and let Windows find and install drivers...see if that helps.

If it's not showing it in your SYSTEM bios [when you reboot and hit del, or whatever you need to hit to see devices] then tell it to autodetect IDE devices -- if its still not, then check to make sure the drive is connected.
