I am puzzled. I have this Presario that has a CDRW which I would like to replace with a DVD writer. The problem is that I am having a hard time trying to remove the CDRW from the unit. It can only come out from the front , but the front face is in the way. Is there a way to remove it that I have overlooked? Is there a website that shows you this stuff? I tried the compaq website without any luck. Please, any advice?
P.S. The tower has only one cover. The other side is fixed

If it is like the Compaq's I have messed with before, the front cover will come off, but it is a pain to get it off. Take as much of the rest of the case off as you can and look for any screws that may be holding the cover on. You will probably find some plastic tabs through slots that are holding it in place and you can try those if you don't find screws. If they don't work, go looking for screws again, they can be tricky to find. The cover pulls straight out and then getting the drive out is pretty simple.... Good luck... ;)

Thanks budfred for your help. I did as you said and it worked. There were six plastic tabs which I had to remove from the inside. Thanks
