Please someone help. While using my computer it restart itself automatically ever so often......at least 2/3 time a day.
Why is it doing this? It says in the power management never to shutdown or restart but yet it keeps doing it. What could the problem be? Please someone help me as we loose a lot of downloads and other things when the stupid machine does it.

Have you had the interior of your system cleaned lately.
The restarting could be a heat issue. Build up of dust on
cpu heatsink and fan, along with other components can cause restarting.
Also a power supply that is developing problems can also restart
your system.Do you have another power supply you can try?
Hope this helps.

I would first run a viruses scan. Update virus program first, if you can. Next I would check the power supply for connections and voltage coming out. If output voltage is low especially the 5 volts,ATX red wire, black wire, and purple wire, if bad change power supply. Next I would check the CPU for coolness and temp. in bios, make sure fan and heat shrink are tight, check the cpu connections with the power off. Make sure all cards are tight and seated. Check memory for seating. Make sure the motherboard is not touching the case. If all fails, sorry, new motherboard. I had this happen a few times, first it was my power supply, second the fan on my CPU went out, third my CPU went bad. Hope some of this helps. How old is the system and have you added any hardware lately? Maybe one day I will be pro too, Thanks Andy PS whyzman I will make it to the test zone. Do what Darl 37 says first right on
