i have a decent keyboard and a mate gave me midi software(midisoft studio for windows version 3. 10. 02.) i connected my pc gameport to the keyboard with midi interface leads,booted up,and found that the normal monitor settings a.(800 600 256 colours)were now b.(640 480 16 colours) i reset these to a.rebooted,and the start up had all the usual sounds but the monitor screen stayed blank with no cursor,i tried another similiar setup with the same result happening, what is wrong ?

Does your computer work normally if you disconnect the keyboard?

Did the monitor display the normal boot screens and then go blank when the desktop was supposed to appear or did it just stay blank and never display anything from turning it on?

I got the normal bootup screens and full desktop.

I don't think I was very clear. After you reset the screen resolution and rebooted, did the screen never come on again (until unplugging the keyboard), or did it go through the startup sequence and then go blank right before the desktop is displayed? Or did it go blank at a different time?
