i got some real funny going on here monitor fickler off on me, goes weird multicolor line across screen, sometime

i got a Packard bell 1511sl monitor, i look in back and flip, thing was mfg. in Nov 1994 and IM running it at 60 Hz
fccid id BEJCP500

ok
i have 2 problem with it
one old problem it bug the hell out of the TV upstairs, TV is all wavy with line and curve all most made it un watchable, and the monitor is downs stair, turn it off and it clear as a bell put it back on as i get yell at again had the problem since day one, i thin when i got my computer set there gave me a old monitor

two new problem as mention a bit in first line monitor cut out on me when i sometime use it, it has a power indicator light green is normal on, the thing will go to yellow and video is gone just like that for no reason i can think of boom i hit it, move it back again the wall, or move the power cord, which i find stranger to say the least, as it has noting to do with video, esp when it tell me yellow light is still on so it still getting power, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr madding, now i also notice screen move to right and left on me for no reason allso, and there have been a few time when the whole thing disappear on me with it look like doz. of multicolor line across it on a black screen, but it i move it it come back for a while or longer

any idea, as i find the power cord idea of my dumb as it still got power

It could be power fluctuations from the wall outlet, or it could be a problem with the video cord. But considering it was manufactured back in '94 and considering it causes interference problems with the upstairs TV, I would trash the darn thing!

Average lifespan for a CRT monitor is about 5 years. At ten, I'd be concerned with safe operating parameters. Judging by your descriptions, your 9- or 10-year old CRT fails! Who knows how much radiation and magnetic waves are coming out of that thing!

The electrical interference you are experiencing with the TV when the monitor is on certainly points to a problem with the monitor...

10 years for a monitor is pretty good!

I think I'd start saving up for another monitor... :(

Is anyone in the house glowing after the lights go out??

Could be a bad video card, bad connector or bad cord on the monitor, but probably the monitor is bad. Borrow a monitor from a friend to see if that will work.
