I bought a CF card reader but can't figure out how to install it--rather how to cable it in. The output cable on the back is a nine pin, five in one row and four in another row, but only eight wires total, four on the one row and four on the other. The other end of the cable is something I've never seen: one of the two ends has a single plug that says GND and a three-wire plug that says VCC, DO-, and DO+, and USB1; the other wire exactly the same but USB2.
The reader has a USB port on the front of it along with all the slots for the different kinds of cards. Is that USB port an input or an output? Am I just supposed to get power from the cables and transfer data from that port to my hub? And why don't these D*#N things come with instructions? Help?

Is this an internal card reader (one that mounts in the case)? The USB end of the cable sounds like the connectors that go on motherboard USB pinouts.

You may have to read the directions on this one. The card reader manufacturer may have some directions on their web site, or you could read the little paper that came with the reader.

Those internal readers are USB-based. You do have USB headers on your mobo, right? If not, you'll have to get an adapter and plug it into your rear external USB ports - or you can get a PCI USB card with an internal header. Or, for the extreme, get a new mobo! :p
