Respected Sir,
I am Niraj from India. The following is Computer Configuration:
P-III 550 MHz
64 MB SDRAM
48x ATAPI CDROM
1.44" FDD
10 GB SEAGATE HDD
Intel 810 Chipset
PCtel MODEM
Initially, I had Windows 2000 Professional Loaded on my computer. It all began when one day Win2K refused to load. I then formatted the hard disk and tried to install Win 98 but much to my dismay it showed time left was 238 minutes, which was abnormal. Then I checked my BIOS in which the CPU Internal CACHE had been mysteriously disabled. I enabled it and installed Win 98. Then I reinstalled Win2K.
Now one day after the memory check during bootup the PC locked up with the error CMOS CheckSum Error( This error has never occured again). I shut down the PC and restarted. It worked fine. But nowadays it does not boot at all some times. Sometimes It gives me long beeps which indicate RAM failure( But the RAM works fine later on) Sometimes the PC hangs randomly during operation. Another thing I want you to know is that my BIOS was password protected. Now mysteriously I can enter without a password.
Please let me know the solution because I have to work for a lot of time on my PC and I can ill afford formatting the hard disk every time thinking it is some kind of Virus.
I hope you mail me a possible solution by the earliest.
-Niraj.
