Gene,

Never be afraid to ask an appropriate question! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif I do believe it depends on the sound card. Some might only allow the input from one sound device, others like my SB Live Platinum allow both my CD-ROM and DVD.

I would check the documentation that came along with your sound card. If you don't have a manual you could do a GOOGLE (http://www.google.com) search entering in your sound card particulars. Or, just head to the sound card manufactuers site and have a look see if it supports multiple devices. Good Luck!

With many sound cards you can only have one audio-in connection...you would either have to use a special "splitter" or try using "digital audio" on one of the devices.....

check you sound card, usually they come with both a 1) "classic" analog female plug so you can attach the audio cable from the cd-rom and a 2) digital female plug for a "digital" connection (is very similar to the analog). So you can put one drive on the analog cable and the other on the digital and have them both!

I have a Sound Blaster Live! sound card and it has two connections (1 for analog and 1 for digitial). I connected the CD-RW to the regular audio in (analog). I connected the DVD to the digitial connection on the sound card. I had to get a special cable for the digitial connection. I found them available at Newegg.com, reasonable price too. Again get the manual out and check to see if you have the second connection. The Sound Blaster Live! and the PCI 512 have the second one or digitial connector.
