Greetings --------I have a Plextor dual format DVD burner PX-708A.It is in a USB 2.0 enclosure and it works fine for the most part except when trying to backup [duplicate] a DVD movie that I own. Here is my process.

1] I have DVD Dercryption software and it does its job and transfers the DVD to my HDD---When its finished I expect to just copy the DVD from my HDD to a DVD-RW disk that is an approved Media brand for the Plextor.

2] Not the case it will go through the process but it will not play on my Computers DVD drive or a home theater DVD player.

3] If I go to the D/Loaded file on my HDD it can be accessed with mouse clicks but will not play through, it plays just the file I click on.

4] The files are referenced [associated] to my ATI 9800 video card.

Im missing somthing here , any Ideas ? I know Plextor has great Tech support they are my second choice PC Guide is #1 Choice.

Thanks Paul

I use DVD Shrink 3.1 and Nero Burning ROM and it works like a champ for me. Id Roxio creating the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders for you? ALL the files you ripped to your HDD MUST go into the VIDEO_TS folder.

In my C: drive there is a folder DVD_VIDEO it opens to VIDEO_TS your saying that I must put the ripped DVD into the VIDEO_TS folder, correct.

Then I can burn the disk using ROXIO Creator Classic , drag the ripped DVD folder into the destination area [lower pane] and BURN it [duplicate it].

Or do I drag the VIDEO_TS folder to the lower pane. I cant locate a file called AUDIO_TS on C: drive---If I double click the ATI file in the ripped DVD file it works fine, but just runs out and stops--no auto play at all.

Hi folks

I'm a newbie here, but not new to PC's or DVD copying etc.

Reading the original post, it sounds as though you are ripping an original disk to your HD, with DVD Decrypter and then trying to burn it.

It's very unlikely that an original disk will fit on a 4,7gb DVDR (4.38gb), so you will need to compress the files first, using another piece of software, so it will fit.
As mentioned above DVD Shrink is an excellent freeware program, that will work nicely.

Once processed, your burnt DVDR should contain an empty AUDIO_TS folder and a VIDEO_TS folder, containing all your compressed files.

Hope this helps

Phil
