I just aquired [ for lack of a better word] a Gateway Select AMD 750 MHz
manf 10-2000 I want to add some memory and the installed 64MB stick thats in there wont be good with XP---the existing stick is---

64MB 168 pin sync 4-clock 100 MHz DRAM SDRAM Memory

on the back of the sticks are 4 modules running horizontal rather then vertical.

I tried regular SDRAM no beeps and no boot, put the 4-clock back in and its fine but slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

any Ideas

Thanks Paul

Go to GW's site, plug in the serial no., and see what size and type of RAM it uses.
Also, check Crucial's site for their recommended RAM.

GW was a no show---Crucial has the memory a little pricy $89 for 256 133 non parity, I guess the problem is the "non parity" and the old quanity and demand theory. I went to Ebay--nothing good, and Ebay to me is a crap shoot and Im not a gambler---so Crucial it is--thanks Ski.
