After my unsolved Soundproblems (Sounds distorted as soon as i have Sound and moving pictures the same time on my screen (like in Games or Videos) now i have problems concerning the CMOS.
From time to time i get bacd checksum results and all my BIOS-sttings are gone.
I changed the batterie from another ECG Board and its the same after about 15 boots. If i save the settings again it works a while but after 10 times
or some its the same thing (Bios settings gone).

only thing i can think of either you need a Bios up-date or the Bios chip is shot? you've already done the battery
i'm sure some one has seen this one stick around

Sorry to hear that; i've been running this board for several months now and have to say it's one of the best i've ever had.

Sounds like you may have just gotten a bad production board, if it's still under warrenty see if you can exchange it.

This board has been one of the easiest and trouble free boards i've ever set up. I would recommend you Flash the BIOS to the newest version. The Battery on modern boards is really only there for the clock-not the CMOS/BIOS anymore, now you clear the CMOS with jumpers ( been like that for a couple of years ) so i would check to make sure you don't have the clear CMOS jumper set in the " clear " position.

I can not correspond with you iisbob concerning this point. My Colleague one office door further has the same board and similar problems.
His Bios settings disappeared, too and when he upgraded from SDRAM to DDR
Ram he experienced problems concerning his sound card.
I have seen so many discussion forums full of topics concerning problems with this board.

I agree with iisbob. It's actually a pretty good board.

Though, the on board AC97 Audio Codec isn't the greatest. http://www.legionhardware.com/Reviews/ECS/ECS_K7S5A_2.php (last paragraph)
I opted to disable all the on board sounds and installed my own sound card.

As far as the CMOS resetting when your colleague installed the new ram, it will do that. It will also do that when you flash the bios too.

If your CMOS is resetting for no reason, then you might have a bad board.
Check your JP4 jumper setting and make sure it is on pins 2-3 (normal operation)
1-2 will clear the CMOS memory.

The on-board integrated AC-97 audio support for SoundBlaster Pro and FM synthesis legacy audio is a fairly standard feature that doesn’t offer much quality sound for gamers but is fine for just listening to the occasional MP3. The board features five PCI slots and no ISA slots, which in my opinion is a good thing. The board also features two DDR DIMM connectors and two SDR DIMM connectors giving a total memory configuration of 1GB DDR or SDR.

save you a trip

..

You sure you don't have the PC Chips version of this board? All the gaming, and performance forums i visit give this board 4 stars; performance wise it even beats AMD's 761 chipset.

I believe you just posssibly got a hold of a bad production model. If you are still dissatisfied with the board, then i would recommend you try an Epox board-i'm stil using an old 440 bx/lx chipset slot1 board from them that's several years old and even with masive OCing and other " stressful " events it's never failed me.
