:o
I added new memory and could not get a video.
I replaced the video card with a new video card
and now have video. but my operating system is not up(i have windows 98)
My mother board is an asus p5a with amd k 2/500 490 mghz

My system only recognizes one hard drive. but I have a zip drive, cd rom, and another hard drive which were all recognized and running perfectly before I added the new memory. What is the problem. I have posted this message yesterday under the Upgrade category but no one has aresponded. I am wondering if this is a problem that should be in this category.

Thanks... I would appreciate any help any one can give to me.

When you first re-booted the computer with the new Memory and had no Video, did you either try re seating the Memory or removing it to see if it would boot normally? (Was it recognized by the System when you finally did get video?)

The fact that it was fine until adding a new Memory stick tells me that there was no reason to replace your Video card yet....It seems obvious the new Memory caused the problem.

Are you sure it is the proper memory for your board?
Can you put things back the way they were to see if everything is as it was before upgrading the Ram?

***(EDIT)*** Please keep everything in one thread...It's very confusing, as I only just now noticed your other thread HERE!!! (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=168219#post168219)
