Dunno if this is the right catagory to post this in,but here goes.....

My mate has bought a couple of PC`s for his kids.Celeron 667 Base systems.
The only thing they dont come with is an O/S.I dont think there is even a startup boot disk with `em!!.
My questions are these:

1.Can he use the restore CD that he has for his existing PC to install windows only?.Or will it install everything on the restore CD?.
2.How will the CD Drive work if he does not get a boot disk with the new systems?.Surely it will need drivers to read the disk?.

3.If a boot disk is not supplied,could he make one himself,possibly one from his existing PC?.(Or is that a stupid question?,I`ve a feeling it is!!).

4.I have a copy of W98.I could install that for him on his PC,as long as I do not register it with Microshaft!.But again,if we dont have a boot disk,how will the CD drive work?.

No the restore disk will not work. You and mate need to buy windows program and you will get the disk also. We try and keep things legal here. Thanks for your question.

My brother has a copy of W98.I can use that.But how do I solve the problem of the CD drive working?.It will need drivers,wont it?.Cant I make a boot disk on another PC?.
