Hey all,
I'm pretty much a newbie and could use a little advice. I've got an old slot a athlon (i know, i know). While I was online, the system crashed. When I try to turn it on now, the CPU fan will run and that's it. No BIOS, no HHD, no nothing. I'm no expert (that's why i'm here), but I know a little. Here's where it gets fun... I've put in a spare board, I've tried another CPU, I've tried spare memory and a spare power supply (only 250 watts but i'm not running anything major). It still does the same thing, not even a beep code. I'm going to try it with different cards (change modem and video out) and maybe change the case out. I know i've basically put together another system, but i just want to know what could be causing this (i know it's something simple or else i could fix it, lol)???!!!

Thanks,
Dale

have you added any thing latley before this happened.
are you sure before all this happened that you were not inside the case and discharged static electricty to mobo?

you don't have a cd or floppy in drive?
when was last time you changed the battery?
are the lites on for hdd and every thing else?
Have you tried booting with your start-up disk or floppy?

don't know if this will help you but?

For some reason your PC is not seeing any OS on your drive, if it was a drive error it would say 'non system disk'.
Try booting to a floppy and at the A:> type C: and press return, this will allow you to log to drive C:, you should get a C: prompt, if not then you need to run Fdisk as you have no primary partition, if you do get to C: type dir/p and press return this will show you a list of files and directories on the drive(the /p stops it scrolling to the end, press any key for more)
if you have a Windows directory try this.
Type A: to log back to the floppy then type sys A: C: press return, this will repair or replace the three files needed to boot your PC, take the floppy out and reboot, if nothing then you need to re-install Windows.
