I have a Compaq Presario Desktop. My ISP is Time Warner Road Runner (cable connection) When my cable connection was installed on my system, the person who installed it used my USB port since I didn't have an internet card. I was very happy with it, and still am. Everything seems to work fine. Some time ago I was told that if I used an internet card instead on my USB, I would have a lot faster connection. So, I went ahead and put in the card. Well, it was faster--at least I think it was--unless it was just wishful thinking. But then I started to have a problem. Whenever I put my system on Standby mode, it would restart after a few minutes. Sometimes it would restart only after 2 or 3 minutes, and at other times it would be 30 minutes or more before it would restart. So, I took out the network card and went back to my USB. That eliminated the problem.
So, does anyone have any idea why my internet card cause the problem? And if so, is there a work-around? Thanks. Have a happy Thanksgiving Day.

Yeah I think that was some wishful thinking frank, i love that line.
With a pci modem you ll get a 5% increase, sooo is that enough, to me it isnt, but i think the problem with the pci card was you had a irq conflict more than likely.

Compaq has had a number of problems with their suspend and sleep modes.
Check their site..for updates regarding your system..
