i have what appears to be two similar m/b's (soltek sl-54u5 and commate s7ax) from different manufacturers with the same problem. Neither board seems to support my diamond viper AGP graphics card. I have installed the card and loaded the drivers only to find that i can only get 640x480 at 16 colours? I know the viper is ok as it works in another motherboard. Am i doing something wrong? do i need to upgrade the bios? or is this a known problem with these m/B's?
Help!
Check the BIOS settings for the AGP, make sure that they support the card (like if it is a 4x card do they support 4x?). Make sure that the card seats firmly and that any onboard video is disabled....

You were right mjc, i had changed the bios for agp but missed the setting that sets the first expansion slot that the bios looks at as pci or agp. That has managed to get the diamond viper working, but i've had no luck with a gforce 2 mx. Am i hoping for too much to get this working on this board? The gforce is supposed to be 1x 2x and 4x compliant whereas the board is 2x. When the gforce card is put in,i can boot to safe mode but not to normal as the system resets itself to boot again. I've tried booting confirming each command line and all is well untill after loading the msmouse driver the screen flickers and i'm back at the start of the boot screen.
Any ideas?
Sorry guys, this looks as if its drifting into the audio/video troubleshooting area, maybe i should have posted there?
