I've a CD-R (Secondary Master)& CD-W (Secondary Slave). The problem is sometimes when the system is started Both the Drives are not detected, mostly when the system is restarted either by CTRL+ALT+DEL or from the "Restart" Option. As of now this prblm. is solved if the system is Shutdown & then Booted. Help me Pls.

I have a similar problem, but it only affects my network interface card, and it's caused [in my case] by an older BIOS that doesn't cope well with the detection of this item of hardware and the allocation of resources [and It's difficult to get a flash update, so I decided to live with it].
If I shut down and re-start then there is never a problem, but if I do a local reboot [Ctrl+Alt+Del twice or Restart] the item is disabled.
[Does this sound familiar?]
I'd bet yours is a BIOS problem. Do you have an older BIOS?
1. Make certain all your drives are set to "Auto" ["Dynamically Auto-Detect" at every Startup] in "Standard CMOS Setup" [or similar].
2. "Force Update your ESCD" by going to "BIOS Setup>PnP/PCI Configuration" and set "Reset Configuration Data = Enabled" [or similar wording]. Check that at the same location you have: "PnP OS Installed = Yes" [assuming it's Windows][No will work just as well] & "Resources Controlled By = Auto" [assuming you don't want to specify them manually]

If this doesn't fix it I think you'll need to flash update your BIOS to the latest version.
