Wasn't sure where to post this question. I'm posting for a friend so bear with me if I don't know exactly what i'm saying :) She said she booted up her laptop and it started in safe mode. When she re-boot she hit F8 and started up in normal mode. She said now most everything looks normal but pictures do not, they are all distorted like still in safe mode. Any suggestions?

That sounds like a video driver problem.

Try reinstalling the video drivers, check the manufacturer's website for updated drivers.

Sounds like something reset the video resolution. Most laptops use a resolution of 1024 X 768 X 32 colors. You could reset it too that and see if it looks right again.

To set the resolution, right click the mouse anywhere on your desktop. Click on Properties on the dropdown menu and you will bring up the Display Properties window. Click on settings, then set the settings for the numbers above.

If that doesn't work, get back to us - could be a video driver problem or a defunct video card.

What's the solution when you reset your resolution and it asks you to restart, however, after the restart, the settings go back to what they were originally????

I second mjc and I would get the latest drivers on line and re-install them. If this still remains a problem, the video is on the main board and this be a sign the board is bad and may need replacement.

Also, boot in safe mode to remove the drivers. When you re-boot it should detect the video card ask for the location of the drivers.
