Guys i have a scanner which has a driver that doesn't work well with XP. I guess i could try to see if there is a more up-to-date copy, but everytime i use the scanner i have to reinstall the software. Can i just go to the store and buy software to run my scanner or will it only run with the company's software. its an HP scanner.
I have a Burner that uses Nero. My burner never works correctly. I says that the buffer is overflowing even with small files. I hate the burner. Can i buy software such as Roxio Easy CD Creator to work with my burner?
thanks guys.

I hate the burner.
LOL! Put the hammer down s-l-o-w-l-y and step away from the pc! :D
How old are the scanner and cd-burner? They may not be very compatible with XP (that's one of the reasons I dislike XP)
You can download updated drivers and software for your scanner and NERO from the respective manufacturer sites, or other locations like Driverguide.com (username drivers password all ). Also I've seen burner softwares for cheap ($5) at sites like Computergeeks or Computer Surplus Outlet. You can try MusicMatch JukeBox free version also. It has it's own burner software. But so does XP. Maybe they are interfering with each other if you are trying to use NERO and the XP one is not disabled.
There's more choices I'm sure, but yes, you can buy standalone burner softwares at retail outlets too. Probably no for your scanner though.
Edit: PS Have you tried slowing down the burn speed? How is the burner set up in the order of things on the IDE channel? I have yet to make a coaster with my burner and NERO. I had Adaptec's EZCD 3.5 and 4 a long time ago and neither worked well. I tried Roxio's EZCD 5.5 express (the one for $5) and had probs with that too.
Yes, there is probably some other software for your scanner, but be warned it will be very expensive. Most scanners come with a "lite" version of a commercial scanner software. The full versions are usually well over $100...

Thanks guys that was very helpful.
I had guessed there was some type of burner software in XP. I noticed as soon as you insert a blank CD it would popup asking if you wanted to burn. then it would burn from within a microsoft window. but i was think that maybe it was only using a default software package to do this. is it recommended that you use XP's burner? thanks guys.
XP includes the ez cd applet from roxio
It is Very limited in what it can do
For the most part it is nothing but the cd write portion
Allowing simple file copy and the r/w feature to work
You can install another program like the full version of EZ cd creator or Nero Burn
They will both work with XP
BUT you must use the newer version

SCSI
Rereading post, I recall that VuePrintPro also has/had a VueScan software. Haven't tried it and don't know how expensive either.
