I have a TDK CDRW5200B. When I first bought it a few months ago, it was great. But now I get errors if I write faster than about 4X. I have Nero Express. When it starts writing, it gets to about 5-6% then stops. After about 1 or 2 minutes I get this message:

SCSI/ATAPI command timeout error.

Anyone have any ideas of what might be wrong. It used to write over 40X no problem. Dont know much about CDRW's. Hoping someone could shed some light.

Oh. I'm writing to "Optimum" CD-R discs. Dont know if that matters.
Would it help if I posted a burn log.

Anyways,
Thanks in advance

Try a different brand of media....I am guessing that "Optimum" blanks really arent'....

Well, now that I'm thinking about it, I've always used these disks, and they always worked. Someone told me if I read from the disc with CDRW, it would shorten the life of it. I have probably had it for about 10 months now.

Very low read speed also. Take about 8 minutes to download 100MB (about the size of a 30 minute video) CDRW to Hard drive. Could it be the way I hooked it up. I think it is CDRW>Master>Slave>Motherboard. I could be wrong. A friend hooked it up for me. So I really dont know. What would be optimum for what I have, which is the CDRW5200B, master 14G, slave 40G.

Thanks

The CDRW also has a hard time auto reading. When I put the disk in, it takes about 1 minute sometimes to read the contents.
