I think im going dumb. I bout an FIC AD11 and an amd 1600xp xpu. I upgraded the bios and cannot get it to boot off floppy or cd-rom at all. I have tried 3 cd-roms and 2 floppys as well as 3 blank hdd. I get an error that say remove disk from floppy, when there isnt one in it. any suggestions??????? thanks in advance!

You probably have two problems here, boot order and a floppy problem

Is the boot order set to floppy first or to the Cd-ROM?

And is the floppy light on all the timw also?

If it is then reverse the cable, the stripe on the cable is Pin1...make sure that stripe matches on both ends (the motherboard and the drive). If that doesn't help try a new cable...

Sometimes that error message will show up with a blank HDD. One that doesn't have a Master Boot Record on it.

As mjc posted the boot order in CMOS(BIOS) needs to be set. A:C:CD-ROM should work. Or select Default Settings, Save and Exit, and go from there.

Luck.
