I would guess that you may have to get into your BIOS and make a change there. But, that's only a guess. See what some of the others have to say about this.

Start by checking the basic’s first..
Double check your data and power connector to the new drive first

Pin one on the data cable MUST match Pin one on the drive

Pin one on the data cable has the red marking on it..

Listen for the drive to spin up when you boot.
You can use a different power connecter ( if you have another available )

Your Bios should support the new drive without the use of an overlay
If autodetect does find the drive
Try entering the drive settings printed on the drive label

How are you setting the jumper? Which pins?

It's best to mount the drive as a single drive on the primary IDE cable until you get it working.

I looked at the MDT web site:

http://www.magneticdata.com/

It is not much help. You can download an instruction manual with jumper settings. I didn't see any troubleshooting help, except that you can email their help desk with your problem.

Some older bioses have trouble recognizing drives over 2.1 GB's. Western Digital has jumper settings that look the same as MDT drives, and WD has an alternate double jumper setting for those older bioses.

Try these settings at your own risk.
