hey there.alright my friend has a computer and he had someone put a norcent cd-rw 521 in it for him.it can play CD's but when i open a program to burn a CD it wont recognize the drive.i've tried easy creator and nero,no luck.i even went into the system menu under control panels,deleted the drive off that,rebooted,and it pretty much didnt solve anything.any suggestion?oh and the OS is win 98 by the way.

Sometimes the cd-rw is working properly but the program used to burn cd does not rocognize that specific writer. Make sure it is recognized in the program before trying to write.

Was an installation CD supplied with the drive, and was it used to install the drive software, updated Windows files, driver etc?

It may be that a Windows System file needs updated to work with [between] the burner software and driver.
I think the burner application tells Windows what needs done and Windows issues commands to the drver, so Windows is in a key position between the two.
