Does anyone know if there is a comprehensive compatibility list for the Pentium II overdrive cpu? I've picked up a Compaq professional workstation 5000 (I think), it's a dual PPro machine, and I'd like to upgrade to the Pentium II overdrive cpu's if they are compatible.

They are pin-compatible but not voltage compatible. It would largely depend on the chipset used. I know that Intel's 440FX (Natoma) and VIA's Apollo (VT82C586/685/687) chipsets support dual PII Overdrives, but I'm not too sure beyond those. Also, the voltage required by the Pentium Pro is 3.1-3.5V (not split) while the PII Overdrive requires 2-2.5V/3.3V split.
Does that help?

Hm, I don't know... I wonder if the Compaq Professional workstation line of computers uses the 440FX chipset. I've got an old Deskpro 5000(single PPro) that uses the 440FX, I'm not sure about the Professional workstation models.
