Sounds the problem is with the cable going to your floppy drive.
Test your drive with a fresh disk first, and if you get the same message, flip the cable going to your floppy drive and test it with another fresh disk.Could also be that the floppy isn't on the HCL Hardware compatibility list which is almost far fetched..Also try some different disks not the same type you have...

Welcome to http://pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif
Being that you are using a laptop, it will be more difficult to service. Also, if the laptop is under warrantee, you may want to check how far you can go in servicing before you void it.
One more thing, you probably would get better results to your question you posted in the storage forum under PC Hardware.
my flopyy is not accessible an error "No ID Address Mark was found on the Floppy Disk" is being dispalyed on win xplorer . I am using Xp pro & Off 2000 & its a laptop.

You could try giving the floppy a new volume id by downloading a small command line utility called VolumeID (http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/misc.shtml#volumeid)
Put the floppy in its drive.
Extract the download volumeid.exe to, say, the C drive.
Then navigate to the C drive from a command prompt by entering C:
Then enter volumeid A: 1234-ffff
Use any other hexadecimal code of your choice if you prefer.
The command line should look like:-
C:\>volumeid A: 1234-ffff
And the response should be:-
VolumeID V2.01 - Set disk volume id

Volume ID for drive A: updated to 1234-ffff
Floppies are notoriously fickle (esp in WinXP IMHO) and you could have a bad batch, ones with no media descriptor byte and a host of other problems. If the floppy is still bad on another PC running Win9X then I would think of chucking it or them.
PS Don't go round changing the ids of your HDDs or you will confuse the OS into thinking it is dealing with a new volume.

I have already responded HERE (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29216) - perhaps the mods will merge the posts.
