I just built a new Athlon XP 1600+ on a Gigabyte GA-7ZMMH mainboard. The problem with it is that pressing the power switch once makes the machine reboot rather than shut down. There's an option in the BIOS for the power switch, where you can choose between an on/off function or a system standby function. The on/off function is selected. (The system standby function works correctly.) The system has an AMD-approved power supply, and the case has separate connectors for the power switch and the reset switch. Reset also works correctly.
Any ideas?

I was going to suggest that you check and make sure you didn't have it connected to the reset terminals......I guess not, hmmm. Check and make sure that you haven't pinched the wire anywhere...

Try holding the switch down for about 5 seconds. That's usually the method for the dual purpose switch, but might work...otherwise double check jumpers, where the switches are plugged in and BIOS settings.
I find that magnifying glasses help very much when dealing with the tiny markings silk-screened onto motherboards...It's possible you misread one and have it plugged into the wrong header.
