I just built a new computer and am having problems with it. When I turn it on, the fans on the CPU and motherboard move a little but nothing else happens. Here is my setup

motherboard - FIC AD11
processor - Athlon T-bird 1 GHZ
memory - PC2100 DDR 256MB
video card - ATI Radeon 64MB DDR

any suggestions will be helpful. I don't think that it is the power supply, because I have 3 of them and none of them work.

thank you

Ok, check that nothing is shorted out, that all the devices are properly seated, that the CMOS clear jumper is in the run position...

It would also be a good idea to remove most everything and install the devices one at a time starting with the video card, (keyboard an monitor are also need for this) and seeing if you get anything (should be an error that you have no memory)...then add the memory (power off and unplug for each addition) and so on...

hello and welcome coylec18

Are you sure, very sure, that cpu fan wiring is attached to the correct pins on MB? If this is wrong, symptom you describe will occur

Have you rechecked all cable and wiring connections VS your manual?

Is the power supply fan running?

What is indicated wattage of power supply

Is power-on indicator light illuminated?

Please power down immediately if the fan is not spinning on the CPU Heatsink. Or that Tbird is going to be Toast.

Please check the Bus Speed jumper on the Mboard. It will be the 100/133 jumper. This will have to be set accordingly for you CPU. Set it at 100 and see if that 1Ghz will fire up. 1Ghz uses a 10x100= 1000.

Usually if the fans are just "bumping" there is something causing a power problem. On the +5v side of things. And they fail to energize.

Just go thru the troubleshooting process but power down if the Heatsink Fan isn't running.

Luck.

Not sure if this is the problem or not as I have only seen this happen in one system before. Check the IDE cables to ensure they are attached correctly between the peripherals and the interface on the motherboard itself. I saw this once before so I don't know if it'll help, but I hope it does.

Install just the power supply, motherboard, CPU and fan, and system speaker. Place the MB on a piece of cardboard. If you do not hear any beeps, then either the PS, MB, or CPU is bad.
If you hear beeps, install the memory. If the same beeping pattern occurs, the memory is bad.
If a different beeping pattern occurs, install the video card. Same beeps, the video card is bad.

This reeely sounds like MB not detecting fan and shutting down instantly as has been discussed somewhere on the forum.

Are you possibly just talking about when you plug it in and not turning it on. My Asus A7M266 motherboard tests all fans when plugged in, just a short burt of power. When I press the power button on the front everything starts. If no power with the button in front, check the connection, it may be possibly turned the wrong way.
