Hello,
I recently discoverd that I had the "NYB" virus. I have a Compaq 386, running Windows 95. Old but faithful. I am now unable to boot my computer and I did not have a boot disk made, but I do have my autorestore disk. My question is; is it possible to make a bootable disk, using a second computer and my autorestore cd, so that I will not have to format my hardrive, and what files would I need.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

It sounds like the virus infected the master boot record or system files if you cannot boot your system up.
You have to get rid of the virus. In order to do this, you have to install an antivirus program on another computer, make an antivirus emergency boot disk from there, and get rid of the virus with the disk.
Later you can install the antivirus program.

If you can in some way get a bootable floppy, I suggest running on over to www.bootdisk.com (http://www.bootdisk.com) and grab the latest F-Prot and run it after booting to a floppy. The progam needs to be run from Windows so your going to have to run from another computer. It'll create a floppy and put the program on it. Boot to a Windows Boot Floppy the insert the F-Prot disk and run it. It'll extract several files and run. Set it to scan ALL files and folders, also set it to do a "dumb" scan so it'll check .zip and other compressed files. Hope this helps.
