Is it ok to replace my old vid card(Inno3D GF2 MX400 64mb) with another brand, maybe like Asus or Jet or Sparkle, or do I need to stick with the same brand(Inno3D) cuz otherwise, maybe it won't work? I have the pricelist right here but I'll save this for later. Right now, I need to know if the Vid card I'm going to buy will work campatibly with my mobo(Intel D845GBV). Also, what is this 1X,2X,4X and 8X, my motherboard's manual says it only supports 4X, but there's no indication in the pricelist if what "X" these vid cards have. Help, I don't understand.
Thank you in advance...

Its easy to use another brand of card, you dont have to stick with the same one.
The important thing is which chipset they use, either NVidias G-Force or ATIs Radeon. Then it becomes an issue of needing to remove drivers before installing the new card.
but there's no indication in the pricelist if what "X" these vid cards have.
Chances are that if they are new cards then they will be 8x AGP, which if I'm not mistaken should still be able to work in a 4x slot.
Give us an idea of which cards you are looking at and we can probably help with advice.

So your saying your not really sure?No one can give you a 100% "really sure" answer because it varies. Some AGP 8x cards work in 4x mode and some don't. It depends on if they are backwards compatible. Most are, but without model numbers we can't say for sure.
Also, they may not all be AGP 8x. 4x AGP cards are still being sold these days because they were either made awhile ago or the manufacturer decided to go with 4x instead of 8x. A couple of those GF4 MX's and 9200SE's may be 4x. I also stumbled across a modern PCI vid card recently, a FX 5700 I think. Funny to think they still make PCI vid cards of that caliber since they're intended for higher end gaming.
If you're really concerned about the 8x vs 4x thing, ask for model numbers from whomever gave you that price list.
