I have this new mobo, EP-8DRA+3 (http://www.epox.com/USA/product.asp?id=EP-8RDA3plus)[just built it] Okay, I jsut got my new Epox EP-8RDA3+ and it has the SATA, Raid thing, with IDE. I go to start it up, and what d'ya know, no go. It says "is not system boot disk, fix and hit any key" [around something like that] I know it isn't floopy, and the manual isn't worth much. there isn't a jumper for SATA,RAID to turn it off or anything, but in the BIOS, it says I can have HDD-0, HDD-1,HHD-2, or HDD3. I have tryed all of them but the samething pops up. It takes a long time when it does the IDE search also. SO I don't know what to do. I was really excited but it didn't work so
PS when I try to boot to floppy on the Raid,Sata disk, it doesn't work. I don't know about that either.
I go directed here by voice-, I hope to help&get computer teekie questions awnswered
Thanks:)

Is the hard drive detected in the CMOS? Also double check your IDE connnection to the harddrive and the motherboard. If you insert the IDE cable wrong (upsidedown) you can get the same error. Also has the hard drive been formated, partition and activated?

Are you trying to transplant an old hard drive to a new computer (build)? If this is the case i would make a disk backup of your hard drive first. Sometimes the new hardware ie motherboard makes it hard to transplant it to a new computer. The new motherboard may use a different BIOS than your last board, this among other things may provide complications for your hard drive and make it unbootable. THe MBR will not know how to boot with the new components. Which cause you to have to format the drive and start over.might

can I install the drivers on the hdd if I put it in a bootable computer and then switch the hdd? I can still put it in the old comp, instal the dirivers and then put it in the new comp. That sounds reasonable, right?

I think your easiest solution would be to slave the old drive and pick up another to load the OS and drivers onto so that they can configure to your new motherboard...
As pointed out by R4_M9, your harddrive is sitting with an installation of your operating system and drivers that has been specifically configured for your old motherboard and hardware...

Okay, I got it running. It needs two hdd to start up. It doesn't matter what the slave has on it it just needs two. I am wondering why
