Afternoon everyone,

recently bought a new pc (AMD 2800 xp, 1 gig RAM, 9800 pro)- problem is, my graphics card is constantly overheating (usually after 10 mins)-

I've ordered a couple of 80mm system fans, in the hope that the lower Case temp might help- the problem is I only seem to have one "mounting" in my case (at the rear) on which to attach the fan.

Do you know if theres a way I can attach the second fan.

my case is the Antler Pc-146 Atx Midi Tower Dark Grey 350w P4 Psu Front Usb

Any help will be much appreciated!!

All the best

Matt (UK)

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif forums!

According to The Specs (http://www.antler-group.com/computer/pc-spec.htm) for that series of cases it should have a place for a fan in the front as well as the back.

If it does have a place in front for a fan then that should be installed sucking air in, with the rear fan blowing air out.

Which brand of graphics card?

Before you go to alot of trouble installing another fan, I would open the case and try blowing cool air over the innards with a small fan. If that cures your overheating problem, then you can start looking for ways to improve air circulation in your case.

Another possibility is a defective video card or a bad driver. There is some question about whether the Cat 3.8 drivers cause a 9800 Pro to overheat. 3.7 drivers are OK:

Some enthusiasts have replaced the video card heatsink/fan with a quieter more efficient unit.
