If anyone can tell me how to fix this problem I would be most appreciative. A Few days ago my computer system crashed down to (literally) the barest Essencials. While originally my computer was pulling a "Non System Disk And Or Disk Error, Remove The Disk And Restart" bit (for the HARDDRIVE) I was able to get it up and running in MS-DOS thanks to Charles telling me to try a floppy Disk. However because I no longer have the DVD-ROM drive I can't put in my System Restoration CD to get it back into operation, what do I do? Should I turn in the DVD-ROM (it was giving me a hell of a lot of trouble before anyway) for something else? I may have a solution but it requires me removing the DVD-ROM and replacing it with a CD-ROM I have stored somewhere in my room... if anyone can see how I resolve this problem please tell me. I would be entirely greatful.

If you can you still boot with the Windows floppy, then select 'Start Without CD-ROM Support' from the menu, type c: at the A:\> prompt, press Enter, type dir, press Enter.
If you cannot see the contents of the C drive, then it has died.
If you can see the C drive's contents, then check for a virus an antivirus boot floppy. If you do not have one, then get an antivirus program, install it on another computer, and update its boot floppy with the latest files from the manuf's site.
If no virus is found, type fdisk /mbr, press Enter.
If this does not start Windows, then restart with the boot disk still inserted, select the same above start item, type sys c: at the A:\> prompt, press Enter.

Hi Seraphim and Welcome,
This boot disk you have, does it include CD-ROM support? If so, boot with it in and then try the Restoration disk. If not, go to Bootdisk (http://www.bootdisk.com) and download the Win98 w/ CD-ROM support version.
If your DVD is dead or dieing, then you should try the other CD drive. Could be your whole problem here.
Good luck

Unfortunately it isn't a Windows Boot Disk that I used. (It's weird. I actually have a DOS Installation Disk at home oO http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif The system isn't dead and I checked it to see if there was a virus. But the HD is wiped clean of EVERYTHING save MS-DOS and the BIOS system. I've tried to tell the BIOS to make the Primary Slave (As the Primary Master is the HD) that there's a CD-ROM drive there but it won't save the changes. Its become annoying and bothersome and it seems the only way I'll get it installed is if I use the other CD-ROM and CD-ROM installation disk I have though I really don't feel like taking my computer apart (especially when my sister's home and she plugged it in while I was working on it and let me zap the hell out of myself)

A VERY special thank you to Bassman. That Bootdisk.com site you showed me was the PERFECT place to find what I needed! Domo Arigato Gozaimasu.
