I took all of your advice and got an HP instead of a LexMark.

I have a small h/d [4.2GB] Before I installed the software for it, I had 3/4 of my h/d empty. After installing, the h/d is 1/2 FULL!!

Is there stuff that I don't need? I want to install Office. I have something called 'Memories disc'. I have no idea what that is or what it is for. Is there any way to copy the files from the disk and put them here so you can tell me which ones I don't need?

Thanks!!!

it sounds like you did a full install.
HP like many others include extra's that you don't need

You can uninstall all the little extra programs
Including the memories disk. ( for creating cd's to send out)

The Only thing you need to install or leave are the drivers.

During the install it should have shown a custom option.
You should be able to remove many of them with add/remove programs

I think I have that one, or one similar. Might be the 1110...

Anyway, I didn't even touch the included CD. I went straight to HP's site and downloaded the latest drivers. It was about 10-15MB, tho, so I hope you have high speed internet.

In any case, I pretty much never use included driver CD's. I always get the latest drivers online and store them on my hard drive. Good practice to get into (especially if you have more than one working PC).
