Just put together a new computer, and I can't get it to boot. Specs are: Abit KG7-RAID, Athlon XP 1900, 512 MB DDRAM, Gainward GeForce 3, Seagate 40GB. Fans will go, but the monitor doesn't display anything. Every part is brand new...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Almost forgot...LiteOn CDRW and a Pioneer DVD-ROM. Don't remember the floppy drive, it's pretty generic.

Done it all...practically rebuilt the computer, reinserted everything including the CPU, heat sink and fan. Can't even get to BIOS with just a floppy, CPU, and video card...ugh.

When you put the cpu back on did you put thermal grease on the core?
Try and disconnect all drives , meaning dvd, cdrom, harddrives. Discoonect power wires, big molexes and floppy drives powerrleads , and see if it willl post

I have exactly the same problem. My power supply appeared to be faulty - changed it but does exactly the same thing. Everything is pointing me towards a faulty motherboard...

Remove everything except the power supply, MB, CPU, start button, and case speaker, and place the MB on a piece of cardboard.

If you hear no beeps, then either the PS, MB, or CPU is bad.
Check for a 12 volt signal between the yellow and black wires, a 5 volt signal between the red and black wires, and a 3.3 volt signal between the orange and black wires on the PS. If you do not get these readings, replace the PS.
The only way to troubleshoot the CPU and MB is to swap them out.

If you hear beeps, install the memory. Same beeps? Replace the memory.
Different beeps? Install the video card. Same beeps? Replace the card.

Either one of you guys using the Enermax 431 PSU?

Make sure it isn't something simple, like the CMOS jumper set in the wrong position. Pull the CMOS battery for awile and then replace it.

Which fan are you using on the Heatsink? Some Mboards won't post unless the fan rpm is being read by the BIOS system.

Got a keyboard plugged in?

Luck.

Some PowerS. will not function unless there is a certain amount of draw. Leave a drive disconnected from the MB but plugged into the power supply to draw some current.

Good Luck, Happy Holidays!
